Zarda Bar-B-Q has "the best barbecue ribs, brisket and turkey in Kansas City, " says one BBQ customer on Yelp. Another raves, "The most tender burnt ends I've had in KC so far." And, "Delicious thick fries, yummy crispy fried pickles, and the meat is always so tender." A customer on Urban Spoon writes, Zarda has this amazing smoked Italian sausage.

It's sliced paper thin, smoky and spicy. Since 1976, the Zarda family has used only Ozark hickory to smoke the finest cuts of meat. And our baked beans are legendary - carried in groceries across the U.S.A. and ready for you seven days a week at both our Lenexa and Blue Springs locations.

Both Zarda locations - 7 Highway in Blue Springs, and just off 87th Street (at I-35 in Lenexa) - dish up a myriad of savory and satisfying dishes in the legendary bar-b-q style our great customers have come to know and love. We use Ozark Hickory to slow smoke our ribs - just the way you like 'em! Many of our menu items are gluten free - and very low in MSG.
Now and again the Bar-B-Q pit-pros at Zarda roll out a new item that has become an "off the menu" favorite with the Zarda family and staff. But be warned, supply may be very Limited, so try these wonderful creations today - they may be gone tomorrow!. Tender chunks of pit-charred, expertly prepared beef brisket, lightly dusted with Zarda's distinctive sweet & spicy dry rub.
Zarda is proud of our relationships with grocers throughout the community. You can find Zarda Bar-B-Q sauce, beans, and many other great products in grocers right down the street. From time to time we even visit grocers with "Smoker" events where you can buy fresh and tasty Zarda ribs, burnt ends and other great bar-b-q items - hot and ready to eat!
If you've noticed our fleet of Zarda "Legendary Bar-B-Q" vans motoring about Kansas City, then you're already aware Zarda is into catering in a big way. If you like McDonalds, you'll like Zarda BBQ. Edible but boring. It resembles BBQ, it tastes a little like BBQ, but is boring to the max. KC Is famous for BBQ but Zarda didn't contribute to the city's reputation. Look around and you'll find something better.

Food was good as always. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only problem we had is they didn't give us all the food we ordered. They also gave us an extra soda, which we didn't realize until our entire party sat down. We all make mistakes. The problem was easily fixed, but they had enough staff that there was no reason it should have happened.

Really disappointing experience tonight. We have eaten here several times ordered the same thing so I can expect usually what the bill is. Tonight we ordered the usual items and total was $20 more than expected. I looked at the receipt and I was charged for 4 sides when the items we ordered came with sides. One meal even included the drink. Which I was charged for.

After explaining to the person taking the order she called someone over who really didn't even explain what she had done. And the response was "I took of $8". Which was still incorrect. By this time I was extremely frustrated and really just wanted my food to eat. Unfortunately won't be returning. After I explained numerous times the bill was incorrect I gave up. Just pay attention when you order. Unfortunately they don't like to correct things when there is an error.

What the heck did you do to the cheese on the Hog Wild sandwich? This is our favorite sandwich but today the cheese used made it taste like soap. We both took half of the sandwich home and removed the cheese the best we could and the sandwich tasted great again. You had better double check the cheese you are using as it tastes terrible on sandwiches. Make yourself one and you will see what we mean.

Overall a good BBQ option in KC. Meat is always cooked well. I love the thick cut fries. Corn nuggets are also a great side. I recommend a beef sandwich extra lean.

Quick service and I enjoyed their February special. Loved the BBQ baked beans, sometimes people will overpower with the sauce but this had a nice blend.

Anna loves BBQ, I rarely don't finish my plate, I didn't finish this one. Let's talk about why they only got three stars. The corn had cheese in it but not good cheese. The fries were steak fries. Plain steak fries. I had the burnt end which were delicious but overall not worth the 18$ I paid for my plate meal. My 14 year old devoured his Turkey sandwich and fries but let's face it, he would of devoured a McDonald's meal too. So for the price vs the quality of food for me not worth it.

Ok I love ribs and Zarda has great ribs at the best price. I avoid the over price rib joints/ Jacks place or poor service at gates. List your preference

Pretty underrated BBQ spot. Is it considered one of the big name BBQ places in KC? Nah, but I don't feel you'll be disappointed in the least bit. The sauce has a hit of sweetness to it, but nothing overpowering; it's pretty mellow when it comes to tanginess. My go-to dishes are the beef and turkey sandwiches, and the ribs. Their sides compliment their entrees well; my favorites are the potato salad and baked beans.

If you're wanting a smaller meal, they have kid entrees for a very reasonable price (and they don't charge extra adults ordering it). Their restaurant space is pretty large and spacious, and would be good for hosting gatherings. It's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Beautiful Friday afternoon and decided on BBQ. Zardas is a local staple in the community for many years. The great food and great service is my reason to frequent one of Kansas City's many great BBQ joints.

In town for the NASCAR race. Driving down the road from Zarda's, we could smell it! So, we stopped, and tasted ambrosia. Seriously, the burnt ends sandwich was perfection. My better half had a rack of ribs that you could cut with a butter knife. I imagine Zarda's is well known locally. If not, it should be.

It's very hard to find bad BBQ in KC. You won't find bad bbq here! Eat inside. Very nice ambiance.

All KC bbq is good but we love Zarda. Always fast and delicious. I got beans but I did think they were slightly less delicious than in the past. Too much sauce and smaller beans and no meat like there was before. Still fantastic though.

This is one of my favorite place to go for a barbecue. They have a lot of good sandwiches and one is always on special. However, my favorite is their burnt ends. They have two kinds to choose from. The regular kind is delicious as is the upgraded version. I have tried both and like both! A local baker makes brownies and cookies that are sold at the register, a nice way to end the meal.

They have a wide selection of sides. Our favorite sides include: the baked beans, onion rings, cheesy corn.everything is good! They have 4 sauces at the table and all are good.and even more at a table you can go to. The apple one is nice for something different.the bold one and sweet hickory are very good.

We saw the sign and looked at the reviews and it's a lie! After driving 8 hours we were looking for good BBQ and good food. Zarda must be German for NASTY! The food wasn't even room temperature. How are you a BBQ place selling cold food? The guy at the register bragged on the burnt ends and how many pounds of beef they cook a day, yet the food was underwhelming and cold and nasty!.To pay $35 for lunch and to get the plate we received is unacceptable.

Keep on driving and find another location. Disappointed and irritated! UPDATE: We sent the food back and told them it was cold and they served cold food twice. It came back just as lousy! The beef has NO TASTE, COLD, just awful x 20! The best thing was the water. Damn, I wasted my money! Please don't eat here!

We ordered our food to go and agreed to pick up our meals via the the drive through. When we arrived to the window the cashier was drinking as well as eating while she opened the drive through the window. No greeting, she just looked at us. My husband being super nice says, "hello were her to pick up a to go order." and gave our name. As we sat there we witnessed a man eating and fixing meals!

Then he kneeled down on the floor, got back up, grabbed what looked like a bun and continued fixing food! Of course when the lady came back with our total I asked to see a manager. I explained to the manager what occurred and she stated that she was unaware of the staff eating on the front line and apologized. Also, that the food we ordered was prepared by the kitchen staff and not the individuals we watched be less that clean!

By this time I was ready to leave the meal and go but my super nice husband said no we have to eat. The manager offered us a drink for the poor experience. umm no thanks as far as I was concerned the meal should have been completely compensated! Please know that this establishment is not practicing safe hygiene. Go elsewhere!

I really enjoyed this place. I ordered the burnt end sandwich. The flavor was good and I enjoyed the bbq sauces that were on the table. I also had a side of fried okra which was very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Best Barbecue in KC! Not only impressed with the food ( top quality) but the cleanliness of the restaurant and the service were very impressive. I'll drive the 15 min for this every time!

Holy cow! I had never been to Zarda until today! Fantastic! If you love burnt ends and great sauces, this is your place! I went for lunch and got the burnt end baked beans, burnt ends, brisket, sausage with cheese corn and cheesy potatoes. Incredible!

I hadn't been to Zarda in awhile and this was only the second or third time at this one. The food wasn't the best I have ever had at Zarda but not the worst. I did get a sandwich I had never had before and the beans were not the regular ones. Having said that, the service was great and as you can see in my pic I did eat the food.

FPO and I are continuing our quest to eat as much BBQ in the BBQ Capital of the World during our latest trip to Kansas City. Our latest stop was Zarda's. Like most of the reviews I read (people either seem to love or hate Zarda's) the suggestion from my sister that, we gotta try Zarda's was quickly negated by one of my sisters-in-law who said, don't bother, save your money.

After trying Zarda's I have to say I'm in the middle. I really liked their smoked turkey, it had just enough smoke and was really moist. And FPO liked the burnt ends and sausage with the exception that she prefers her sausage cut thicker. The flavor was good enough that we would order it again. It's good the meats could stand on their own because neither of us cared for their BBQ sauce.

Too sweet. The sides were also a split. I didn't like the fried okra but really liked the fried cauliflower. The sweet potato fries and fried corn were okay. According to FPO the slaw had an unexpected kick to it and the beans were good but the burnt ends inside the beans were a toss up. some were really good, others a bit dry. On the whole it was a nice experience.

Picked up a large carry out order before the Chiefs game. Everything was ready at the drive thru window. I love Zarda beef burnt ends. They are the best anywhere. We used to live in Lenexa and ate at this location often. Their beans are also the best. Other good sides include corn nuggets, onion rings and fried okra. Until next time we are in town, great job Zarda team!

Spectacular facility and staff to start off! The brisket was some of the leanest BBQ I've eaten in KC in years! We were excited about the quality of the food, but, not about the price! A sandwich and beans averaged $22.00 let person's meal! Sticker shock like buying a new vehicle! It's been years since I've visited a Zarda and I quickly realized why. their sauce is "less than adequate!" I'm not a fan, but, you decide on your own. not all KC BBQ is to die for! We were extremely impressed by their Covid Procedures to keep everybody healthy and safe, from the time you walk thru the door, until the time you leave! Well done!

Came here on a recommendation.needless to say the food was not it was all cracked up to advertisement. Service is 5 star, quick and efficient. Friendly staff and plenty of parking/seating. Highly suggest other locations that have more flavor and meat. Sauce is ok and the prices are comparable to the other top spots in KC. To each his/her own.however I'll pass on future visits.

On its own, Zarda should get 4 stars, but I only knocked it down because of the likes of Q39 and Jack Stacks. Zarda is consistent in quality and I've never had a bad meal there. It's kind of a sleeper BBQ joint because KC has so many BBQ places, but this place is great for no frills BBQ. They have ridiculously reasonable ribs and I do like their spicy BBQ sauce.

I also like that you can go up to the counter and order. You get your food quickly, don't have to tip the usual 15% and don't have to be yelled at aka "greeted" when you first come in. They have a special going on right now for ribs. I got carry out for 3lbs of ribs for around $10. Not bad at all. Now if they could step up their sides or specialize in one sandwich, I would go there more often. :

Zarda is true-to-form Kansas city barbecue - like it or not. You see, before barbecue was so hip and now, Kansas Citian's would quietly walk into one of a dozen or so establishments - each outfitted with their very own Budweiser Clydesdale model. That damned model always adorned a mantle, above a smoky dark window to a poorly lit kitchen. A formidable, overworked man was always shuffling past the window - never smiling.

I remember the smoky silence, or if you're lucky a little honky-tonk music. Then it all changed. Now you have things like, good lighting, proper ventilation, OSHA, and spunky kids working in back - that somber man is nearly extinct. But beneath Zarda's still-standing Clydesdale's you can still smell, see, and taste a little bit of what KC Barbecue once was.

To be sure, they have evolved with the times since 1976, but the fundamentals have always been the same. Consequently, I hired them to cater my wedding, and the service and quality of food was outstanding. Their brisket is smoky, very lean, and dry - probably my favorite; the sauce is required and spectacular - and their meat takes to that sauce very well; the beans are bolstered with chunks of meat then smoked, and are some of the best I've ever had.

Their onion rings are everything you'd hope one to be - as much goes the fries. They're just good Ol' KC 'Que - probably the last of it's kind behind old Artha' Bryant. They have their faults, and their are other, fancier KC originals - but like Bryant's, Zarda's shirks off the shine of modernity, and sticks to the patina finish of over 40 years of smoke. This is KC Barbecue.
