They told me that when they saw us coming in the door they got out the high chair for me. That was back in the late 30's to early 40's. In the 50's that was the only place to go for our favorite breaded veal tenderloin and frosties (the original). 1950s - Shirley (Clinehens) Ashabranner - Mashabrann@aol.com - Growing up in Sidney my family always frequented the Spot.

Remind me of McDonalds back in 2007 when their food was actually good. Good times! The Spot hits the spot!

Yum! Delicious diner food. Not the cheap, frozen, off a truck stuff. Legit fresh food!

I have only ordered pickup through their website. Tenderloin sandwich is AMAZING. I crave it and I hate pork. I am not a fan of their style of onion rings, but I still order them! Burgers are good. Fried mushrooms are excellent.

I love this place! Greasy burgers, tasty malts, and amazing pies. It's like taking a step back in time. I come here every chance I get. Will you get blown away by smiles and friendly service? Probably NOT! LOL. But it's nostalgic, the food is fantastic, and it's just a fun experience coming here.

The Spot is a good lunch place. Been around for years (at least 50) and granted it is in real need of renovations because it could be even better. Lots of good memories come from that place. I've seen two small historical restaurants close in the last week and would hate for that to happen here. The great food may not be enough.

The burgers are very thin no flavor no seasoning homemade onion rings are okay but they have no flavor the food is very bland. That's not a place I would drive out of my way to go to again and I seen a lot of other reviews said the same thing but I thought I still take a chance prices aren't too bad though.

The Spot has seen better days, I'm sure (and I say this as a first-time customer). I nearly gave two stars - due to the restroom situation - but I'm being nice due to the pandemic they're coming out of. I dined in with my wife and son. The bathrooms were in SEVERE need of cleaning, but I will spare you and not go into detail. We each ordered cheeseburgers and onion rings, which were acceptable.

My malt was basically a cup of soft serve ice cream (spoon required). Some of the booths and tables were broken or in bad shape. The Spot could use a renovation, but they can start with better cleaning and a more welcoming attitude from the staff - neither of which is very expensive.

Not being from the area, I was looking for somewhere local to eat. The decor and name definitely drew my interest, however "the spot" definitely was not "the spot" for me. I ordered the combo #1, cheeseburger, fries and a drink. I LOVE pecan pie, so I tried to make it through the piece of pie, but it was burnt and dry. The burger was what you expect, however the fries tasted as if they were cooked, left to set and then cooked or "warmed up" in the fryer. The lady that took my order was also rather rude and insisted that I told her that the order was to go, when I told her I was eating at the restaurant.

Good if your eating inside, getting it to go? NO! They bag it up and your sandwiches are smashed to hell and back! Ordered a tenderloin and I threw the buns in the trash, adding a bun from home, because it was so smashed up, everyone raves about their pies! They are just as good as Walmart or Kroger! Better yet? Make your own! I find it to be a dirty restaurant, I'm not comfortable eating there, I wanna wipe down the tables, just to relax and eat my food in a clean environment!

An excellent, old (and old-fashioned) burger joint. Burgers are good as well and the fried food is just right, not greasy. I like the tenderloin sandwich and the onion rings are made from scratch. Good house-made soups, too.

I've heard that about the spot for years and finally decided to stop by. I had a chicken sandwich which was pretty good. I like the nostalgia that you feel at the spot. Kind of took me back to when I was a kid and some of the little restaurants we'd stop at. Out of the restaurants that I've ate at in Sydney I have to say it's one of the better. I would recommend it to anybody going to the Sydney area stop by the spot and just kind of go back in time.

Great place, looks retro. Go up to counter and order, lots of great sandwiches to chose from, I ordered the Big buy baskets with onion rings, my husband ordered Tenderloin sandwich with sweet potato fries, and we shared a piece of peanut butter pie. EXCELLENT food and fantastic service. Highly recommended.

Food was just ok the pork tenderloin was good wife's cheese burger was just ok the onion rings were mostly small broken pieces the chocolate malts were just soft serve something like ice cream. (They don't know what a malted milk is) I don't know how they got so many 5 stars reviews I was generous by giving them 3. We won't go back.

A great diner that serves up some really tasty burgers and pies! The French fries are also pretty spectacular. The indoor dining area has a neat 50s feel to it, and there is a really cool drive up system. President G W Bush also visited this diner and there are some pretty cool photos of it on the walls. Parking can be limited with some spots available on the street.

If you're looking for something unique, this diner fits the criteria. Friendly service and good food. I had the cheeseburger, fries and a slice of pecan pie. Lots of food for a very reasonable price.

I've always loved The Spot but never left a review. Just recently, because of the pandemic, I used the car side speakers and got food delivered to the car. It worked like silk: super fast and accurate. I always enjoy the hamburgers. And onion rings. The tenderloin is huge and delicious. The view out to Sidney's lovely, happening square and the friendliness of the staff and other customers make it fun.

I had the absolutely worst chicken tenders in my entire life. And the French fries were not that much better. The meat on the inside was a dull gray. The outside crust was dark brown. It tasted like the grease had not been changed since the Bush administration. It was not my choice to go there, especially since the last several times the food has not been good.

Plus we had to wait in the car for nearly an hour before getting our orders. You will notice that I didn't say food, because that would imply that this abomination was appetizing and edible.

Great nostalgic decor and the homemade pie matched the memories. This is a must if you are in the area.

Stopped here on the way home from a family road trip. Cheap food, which was a plus, but it wasn't good food. The pie was dry and that's supposed to be the reason people come here. The "malt" is just an off brand version of a frosty from Wendy's and definitely not a shake. Not a lot happening in the town, so this place is still standing (and on a Sunday evening, appeared to be the only business open). Otherwise I don't think it would have lasted long elsewhere.

It's an old diner. Not 11-Madison Park. The interior and exterior of this store has a feeling straight out of the 60's and is what I would refer to as 'quaint'. The menu has your normal offerings; breakfast till 11a, hamburgers, sandwiches, soups and pies. The food we ordered was pretty darn good if you're in to diner type foods.

If you're looking for a 5-star meal, go elsewhere. The staff were all super friendly. As per the normal with me, I ask a lot of questions regarding the menu, what's popular, etc and the nice lady at the register answered them all without ever showing a slight hint of annoyance. I'd have no hesitation eating here again next time we are in the area.

Great food and friendly staff. This place is exactly what you expect. Fresh grilled burgers that you can watch them prepare.

An iconic drive in/dinner that seems right out of diners drive ins and dives. The 50s decor sets the mood of the busy place. Put down your coat to snag your table and then hurry up to the counter to order. I say get the tenderloin which is as big as your head and an order of fried mushrooms and onion rings. Wash it all down with a root beer and unbutton your pants bc you will be so full of the greasy delishiousness that is the spot

This place is bad. The fries taste bland, the cheese is 100% fake, my Sprite didnt even taste like Sprite. The bathroom was really dirty, it looks like they had that room as a horses stable. End review.

The spot is a local legend in sidney Ohio. It's been around forever and has even hosted a president. There are pictures of Bush all over the restaurant and they are proud of it. I believe this place is popular for those 2 reasons. I called places like the spot the old greesy spoon. Greasy food that's not that great but just ok. They have burgers and several deep fried options that the locals will tell you, you have to try.

But really, you don't, nothing will knock your socks off, nothing will be unique to them that you can't get in almost every city around. For instance the tenderloin. The locals will tell you it's huge! And you have to try it! But again, it's a giant tenderloin like you'd get at the fair that's mostly all bread and just is not exciting.

The burger lack unique ingredients and buns and a basic in my opinion. I see places like this dying off as their clientele does. (I know that's harsh buts it's true.) Fast casuals will move in and steal there business.

Greasy spoon diner with big fat burgers. Throw-back place with bad-for-you food that totally hits The Spot(so to speak). Older clientele, but from a local friend, this is not unusual in Sidney. 50s style eatery, nice diner feel.
