Here's one for the foodies: 195 Franklin Private Dining Club, a funky, unique little restaurant in Bristol that's open only two days a month. If the exclusivity alone doesn't appeal to you the fresh, thoughtful menu and the comfortable vibe definitely will. Lynne and Ed Turnbull, who run the operation, are longtime caterers who essentially love food and drink and people too much not to have a restaurant.

It's (sadly) rare to find a dining establishment where the number one priority of everyone working there is genuinely your pleasure as a customer, but 195 Franklin is that kind of place.

195 Franklin provided breakfast catering for our week-long event in Barrington. I was delighted when each day there was a wide variety of delicious, nutritious and imaginative food. We had a lot of hungry people on site, and everyone was impressed with the quality and flavor of the food. On our menu were homemade baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, and fruit and yogurt parfaits.

Everything was so fresh, so unique and incredibly tasty. The coffee (a key item to keep us fueled) was nice and strong. On top of all this, Lynne was such a sweet person to work with. She was so friendly and accommodating and made it a breeze to plan. Even the presentation of the food was tastefully done. It can often be hard to find a company that hits all the "sweet spots!" I highly recommend 195 Franklin, and will use them again the next time I am in the Rhode Island area.

Truly a unique little spot in Bristol. Having been here for a rehearsal dinner I was surprised to find a funky little restaurant run by a nice older couple, who have been in the business for years. With Lynn running around checking on tables and Ed behind the bar pouring delicious drinks, it is truly a warm and inviting experience. The food was great as well.

So the gist I guess is that it used to be a restaurant that was open full time, now they do parties, catering and other events, and then open once a month for a Fri/Sat in the restaurant, always with a different seasonal menu. It varies from italian, to french to mexican. I stopped in one Fri night and the menu was Mexican in theme and it was amazing.

The best carne asada steak I have head in RI. also the beans and rice, usually a simple side dish were amazing, the beans had hints of orange and jalapeno, and pineapple, and the rice was just as tasty. For desert was a molten chocolate cake with poblano whip cream. just spicey enough to feel the heat in your mouth and a great compliment to the chocolate. Watch the website and definitely try to catch one of these open weekends int eh restaurant, you won't regret it.
