Melvin's Southern BBQ & Ribs

Melvins is a great BBQ when you need it fast. I recommend the Big Joe and the secret sauce. The basket of fries and onion rings are good as well. Overall if you want a fast dinner or lunch this is a good spot.

O.M.G. Melvin's BBQ is a must stop shop for everyone. My family and I were in town for a vacation and the staff recommended a few options for sining. We choice Melvin's and boy did that decision pay off. I ordered a d2 meat combo with double ribs and 2 sides of collard greens and an extra side of max n cheese. I, also, ordered a 1/2 chicken meal (all dark meat) with sweet potato casserole and french fries.

My family ordered a 2 meat combo meal (ribs and chicken wings) with sweet potato casserole, mac n cheese and 2 extra sides (fried okra and mac n cheese. All of the food was absolutely delicious. So good, in fact, that we will be returning another night while we are in town. This place truly deserves 7 outta 5 stars. Its that good.

We love Bar B Q, so a visit to the low country must involve a search for good BBQ. We were tired from our trip and decided to look for a place with delivery, drive through, or sit down. Melvin's checked all the boxes. It did not disappoint! I wanted brisket, but they were out, so I had the pulled pork. It was delicious! There is a long list of sides & I tried the sweet potato souffle & it was full of nuts, which I LOVED!

The hush puppies were a little over cooked. My husband had the chili cheeseburger with slaw and also said it was good. He had a huge onion ring on it and said the batter on it was just so so. There are 2 locations and we tried the one in Mt. Pleasant.

This place is deliciously amazing! 3 meat combo brisket pulled pork and turkey! Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly! The meat was tender and moist. I will definitely be back

Got the 3 Meat Plate with brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Sides were fries and sweet potato souffle. The total plus tax was $41. I shared this with a friend and it lasted 2 meals for both of us. Fries were good, and I think I would have liked the sweet potato if there wasn't a load of added sugar in it. Brisket was very dry and all the meats were room temperature when the platter was brought out.

There were a few barbecue sauces but they tasted the same to me. I think one of them was premixed into the pulled pork. Cornbread was pretty good. Overall, the platter was either dry or very sweet. It's good for a try but would not come back again.

The food is very good, especially the onion rings. They need to work on their drive through. I went at 11:29 today and it took 28 minutes to get a burger and onion ring. Cmon guys.

AMAZING! The staff were fast and extremely friendly. The food was some of the best bbq I have ever had. Our group ordered the 3 meat platter ( chicken, turkey and pulled pork), the brisket sandwich and 6 smoked wings. Everything was delicious. We devoured it. The French green beans were delicious and had so much flavor. The Mac and cheese was tender and cheesy. Would DEFINITELY a recommend to anyone and would try again.

We ordered Melvins delivered to our hotel, it was so fresh, and really good food. Their hush puppies and okra were amazing as well. Pictured here is cornbread and ribs.sooo good.

Staff is very helpful! I was sitting outside and the food runner came out with my food but I didn't know you had to grab sauce/utensils prior to coming outside. He held unto the food and showed me where to grab the stuff. Super friendly! My brisket and cornbread weren't hot. disappointed about that. Food was good though.

We were very disappointed in the quality of the food. My daughter had the chopped chicken and ended up having 2 larger cartilage pieces in it. My husband took the ribs and brisket also very fatty. The coleslaw was bland. We did like the cornbread and baked beans. I know BBQ is always subject to taste but for $30 a person I would expect better.

Very impressed! Stop by passing through, heard great things about this spot. It was so delicious, the meat was moist and pleasantly smoked to perfection & the mustard based sauce is A-1, fries w yummy seasoning added, the doughnut style onion is so freaking yummy!, the cornbread is good, gotta have extra!, the pickled condiments were delicious and complimented the food well! I will definitely be back to enjoy the BBQ.

They have the best burgers and sides. The burgers are plump and fresh. The hash and rice is my absolute favorite. The bbq is good too. I gave them only 4/5 stars because there have been 3 times we've had something missing from our order. Only to realize it once we got home. Food is great but I think they could use a double checker on the to go orders. All in all it's worth your stop:

So this place does not stack up to all the hype. Smoked wings were good (solid dry rub flavor and fall off the bone), but $13.99 for 6 is high even with current commodity pricing. My kids even thought the milk tasted watered down and the soda to carbonation ratio (brixing) was too little syrup. Also overall food quality lacking. Save your $$$.

In SC from Florida and was so excited to try Melvin's. Ordered delivery as I am here with my elderly grandmother. There was no option to order lean on the brisket sandwich on the DoorDash app so I called the restaurant and spoke to someone who assured me that I would get lean brisket. She took my name, I placed the order on Door Dash and the brisket came with tons of fat.

And was dry. We also had the mac & cheese that was very dry like it had been sitting around for hours. The barbecue beans were good, the pulled pork was good, the hush puppies were good. But overall Melvins was a big disappointment for us.

I love Melvins. The chicken was very good. I got it without the sauce and it was tasty and well seasoned. The fried okra was hot and crispy. The macaroni on the other hand could use a little help. It was as if I was eating macaroni with some cheese not the usual one that they serve. And the sweet tea was great as usual. Other than that it was a good visit.

I'm a frequent eater of smoked pig pulled and piled high. I travel the BBQ trail. My preference is Lexington NC style with red slaw. This wasn't that. But, for what it is, it was good. I had a big pork sandwich with white slaw. I ate it all. This was heavily smoked on real wood. If I had to guess, oak and apple. But I'm not sure. It had a nice smoke flavor and the ring was thick.

I couldn't tell if it was shoulder or whole hog but it was plenty moist and tender. They do SC Gold (mustard base) sauce here. It is in SC. If you keep an open mind, it's pretty good. If you're only comfy with one style that isn't SC Gold, you'll not be happy. If you don't know much about BBQ pork - you'll probably like this fine if you don't drown it in a KC sugar sauce. I'd have liked this more with a western NC red slaw - this was a touch sweet for me. I've heard good things about their brisket too but this here ain't Texas, I'll stick to the smoked pig. We'll be back.

Ok, brisket sandwich was delicious, pulled pork was more than decent. Fries were fine. Baked beans were good. Sauces are very tasty. Now, the bad. Avoid the "onion rings" like the plague! It's like a thin, mediocre donut with PERHAPS a slight piece of onion inside. Just. Yuck. The "famous" banana pudding was a real disappointment. Mostly instant pudding and cool whip with the occasional vanilla wafer and a few slices of banana--$5.99 for a serving of instant pudding. Nope. Including dessert, that, granted, many don't have at a noon meal, Lunch was $61.

We love Melvin's BBQ. We have been mostly to the Mount Pleasant location but we also have been to the Folly Road location as well. Food is always great. Never had a bad experience yet. Love the brisket sandwich sliced with fries and the giant onion ring. It is tasty and filling.

The burnt ends tasted good, like the several sauces and the fried okras. But the pulled pork was cold and somehow mushy, without any pieces that showed parts of the smoke ring or a bark. We appreciate a good BBQ and do have a smoker in our garden in Germany. We try BBQ whenever we are in the US. We would not go to Melvin's again.

My first time at Melvin's. A very nice experience. I got the 1/2 rack of ribs with the tomato based sauce. I also had two sides which were fries and baked beans. All of the food was good. They even give you some cornbread which I enjoyed. That is saying something for someone who does not care for cornbread. I would definitely come back.

This bbq is awesome. No frills dining, but authentic, delicious food. The ribs were great and super meaty. Brisket was delicious and smoked perfectly. Nice and tender too. Hush puppies were great, as was the coleslaw and the potato salad. Sweet potatoes were, well, quite sweet - we prefer them more savory, but ok. The only disappointment was the green beans - mushy and rather flavorless. But definitely worth going. Mostly indoor seating and limited outdoor tables. Service was friendly. Parking is not bad, but a little limited.

My husband is extremely picky and he ate up this pork sandwich without complaint. I didn't tell him I got it without getting out of the car! Drive through windows are THE BEST when you have a toddler! Recommend!

We were directed here by a local, and it did not disappoint! Phenomenal food by itself (as all good barbecue should be), but the sauces are also delicious! I really loved the golden barbecue sauce. Emeril also seems to be a fan, so. Can lose! Oh, and if you sit by the windows on one side, you can see a cool view of the bridge nearby!

Excellent spot in Mount Pleasant. Great serving sizes, amazing flavor, and such a cute atmosphere. I LOVED my turkey sandwich and my husband was RAVING about his brisket. Such rich flavors and excellent service. Definitely would come back and 5/5 recommend!

Good meat. Good sauces. Crappy atmosphere. Soda fountain was out of all kinds of sodas. Ice was running over. Not managed real well. Ordered a 3 meat plate. Brisket, pork and ribs. Brisket was smoked nice. Pork was dry. Ribs were perfect. Tender with a chew. Easy to pull off bone and had a chew. Corn bread was good as was the slaw. No alcohol.

The first time I had Melvin's was takeout so I was super excited to go eat at the restaurant. I've been really into brisket lately. Unfortunately, they were out of the lean brisket but a very nice person at the counter recommended the half and half brisket. It was heavenly. Not too fatty. Very flavorful. Delicious in fact. What can I say about this onion ring?

I loved it. Like a pillowy donut almost. It was gigantic and very filling. The coleslaw was also yum. Everyone at my table enjoyed their food: ribs, pulled pork, chicken. My husband was very disappointed they were out of burnt ends and wings. Guess you gotta get there early!

Melvin's is still the staple in my life that I have to have when I visit family. Every thing on their menu is delicious, the customer service is outstanding and so friendly, and they are affordable with wonderful to go options. The little Joey pork is always my go to with fried okra. The collard greens you should also not miss out on! They are full of flavor! The onion rings are huge and when you leave grab a banana pudding to go.

The bbq was very delicious and the staff was friendly. I got the beef brisket combo with baked beans, fried okra and a blueberry milkshake. I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 because of the parking lot. I waited about 10 minutes before I could leave due to the fact that there is one only lane to navigate through that connects to the drive thru.
