Popular place reminding me of those windowless clubs of the '50s. Food was delicious with very large portions enough for a family of four.

We went here because my parents talked about how they use to come here for dates (30 years ago). My dad was reminiscing about their shrimp scampi. We decided to take the trip up to enjoy dinner. Let me start out by saying come hungry! So much food but so happy for leftovers. Everything was awesome. They know how to use garlic. I tried a little bit of everyone's sauce and they were all delicious.

If I came again, I'd probably get the shrimp scampi over linguini. Joes Linguini With Fresh Seafood was great but there is something about keeping it simple with shrimp scampi.

As always, the food was absolutely delicious. But, the ambiance of this fine establishment was ridiculous tonight. I was there celebrating a late Mother's Day with my family and the volume in our room was so loud I couldn't even carry on a conversation with my family. All we got from the bartender on our way was, "sorry". So much for enjoying my evening

Lots of good tasting food for the money. You'll never leave hungry. Italian dressing is excellent. Could stand to have better lighting. Older folks were using cell phone flashlight to read the menu

First timer to this legendary establishment. autographs of the most famous people in all the world adorn the walls and the food? It's spectacular. I had filet mignon and it was the best cut of filet I've ever had. Tender, juicy and delicious. it was prepared in butter, the service was spot on and timely. A bit of an up sell but knew the menu and made great recommendations. Companion had medallions of fillet in scampi sauce and it was off the charts. would recommend this highly to anyone who loves great food!

We were a table of five with reservations and we're seated right away. Waitress was very efficient, pleasant, and helpful. Food was prepared just right, all hot, and to order. All five meals were perfect! It has been a year since we've dined here and just like the last time we couldn't ask for a better experience. We are just shy of an hours drive one way and it's totally worth it! 2 for 2 times or 10 meals out of 10 perfect!

A gem in Elmira. Anything you order here is wonderful. From the red peppers or calamari appetizers to steak, fish or fowl. It all makes you want to come back and try the rest. Looking forward to doing just that!

Have been here a few times with friends. I cringe every time someone suggests this place. While the service is usually decent their food is almost always saturated with garlic. Had the worst steak ever here.

New Years limited menu ran out of filet at 7pm steaks were very rare. Ordered med rare and they were rare at best 20 years in rest industry the internal temp may have been 120 so really rare. I ordered the "24oz Prime rib" got a 18 oz at best ribeye steak. No low and slow cooking at all was grilled? Service was good but for $190 for 3 of us was a real disappointment.

The owners won't care though unfortunate. The service was really good and everyone is friendly but the food was a swing and a miss. Usually very good but not tonight a disaster to say the least.

This is the best steak in Elmira. Some of the bad reviews on here are just outrageous. If you like filet mignon, prime rib, New York strips, and probably the best shrimp scampi I've ever had then this place is for you. Yes it's darkly lit and it's a little expensive but the service is always good and the meat is always on point. If you are a fancy pants vegetarian looking for an organic menu please go elsewhere and don't leave these nice people your negative comments. Libs is the gold standard for red blooded meat eating American people.

I'm laughing at the bad reviews especially the one that claimed they'd rather go to Olive Garden C-ya if you can't see the beauty in this humble place. It may not come across as that with all the memorabilia and the gorgeous Tiffany lamp that shines light at the bar. I'm a foodie, I love restaurants, I love incredible food and service and constantly seek out that magic that sometimes can happen when experiencing both at the same time especially when it is unexpected. It's local places like these that are what we need more of in the world.

The staff was beyond friendly. The food made Cheesecake factory's portions look like appetizers. It also matched the quality of famous Italian restaurants like Maggiano's in Chicago. If it's pricey it's because it's honestly enough for 3 meals. So order keeping that in mind. It's a gem and must have if you're ever in Elmira.

I cannot praise this restaurant enough. The food is wonderful and they serve huge portions. The outside looks like an old warehouse but inside you see it is modeled as a Mafia gangster hangout with pictures of mobsters on the walls. It is a moderately high end restaurant, wonderful waiters/waitresses. Love this place!

Amazing food and service. We recently had a party of 13 on a Saturday evening for my son's high school graduation dinner. Everyone LOVED the food and the portions were substantial. Service was friendly, quick, and efficient. There's a reason this restaurant has stood the test of time. The scampi is outstanding! Mussels and prime rib were cooked to perfection. Thank you for a great and memorable meal to celebrate this important milestone.

Do not order prime rib on Saturdays, they don't give you what you order. We all ordered medium rare but we got medium to medium-well. Not going back for sure. UsefulFunnyCool

If you like Garlic, you'll love Lib's, they put Garlic on the cheese cake! All joking aside great dishes, usually with a hearty helping of fresh minced garlic. Pricy, but the size portions are overwhelming. Usually an entree is a full meal, plus a full meal to take home. No one leaves hungry.

Normally give them 5 stars. it's one of our favorites. but tonight was a little off the mark. Long and short of it. if they're very busy and are having a hard time fitting you in. wait until another night! Our friend, who had celiacs & cannot eat wheat, was told that they were too busy to make any breaded entrees without breading. They always will do a grilled or broiled version of their chicken or shrimp, but would not this night.

My homemade ravioli was delish. My husband ordered the penne with vodka sauce. his looked EXACTLY like mine. He asked our server, and she assured him it was. when she went to get the other dishes we all mentioned that it didn't look like there was any cream at all in it. So, my husband asked about it again. even saying that it usually has cream and he was told that the thing that makes it vodka sauce is actually the vodka and not cream. Now, when I got home I tried to find a vodka sauce recipe without cream and GUESS WHAT?

I couldn't. By definition vodka sauce has 3 basic ingredients plus herbs and those ingredients are: tomatoes, vodka, and CREAM, which gives it it's signature color. His dinner wasn't bad, just really not vodka sauce. Their desserts are really so so. either frozen or the 1 made in-house is loaded with cool whip. kinda disappointing! I highly recommend their filet mignon, it's the BEST. but they need to up their game on the vodka sauce and desserts! Still, this is one of our favorite restaurants.

Dim, 50's decor, depressing. Food is mediocre at best. Huge portions but unimaginative and drowned in sour red sauce. Friends Alfredo had little cream sauce but too much garlic butter. Will wait another 5 years to return.

Finally tried Libs after many people recommended it. We all ordered steak, filet, strip, and prime rib. Steaks were very good, very tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare, but the sides they offered were peas or pasta in red sauce. They had ran out of baked potato. Well, the pasta was not very good and didn't go very well with the steak. The apps were very good. We had clams and calamari. Lots of garlic. If you don't like garlic, you won't like libs.

Only good was mussels and my husbands pork chops. I had the haddock down under and that describes it best. Down under. Lackluster fried fish SMOTHERED with Huge slices of bland mushrooms and artichokes. No color to either. Looked like they were warmed up and poured over the fried fish. Plating was not appetizing. Blah and grey at best. Sauce bland.

Red sauce on side of spaghetti was harsh with a sharp bite to it. Tasted like canned or jar sauce. Left strong aftertaste. Coconut pie is whipped cream with coconut pieces in it. Crust is scant dusting of graham crackers and pie is huge pile of whipped cream. Bland. Salad was OK. Served bread with solid cold butter. Service is slow and scattered. Ordered coffee with pie. Was dark and old tasting. The fresh one was brought with our check after we finished what pie we ate. Sad but pricey. Would not return.

We were in the area on business and wanted some Italian food. The Yelp reviews helped us pick this over other Italian restaurants in the area. Waking in the door we questioned if we should stay or go. The bar area was busy and loud. perhaps even a little rough looking. The host was not welcoming, not rude, just didn't receive a warm welcome. After looking for an open table near the bar he took us into a room in the restaurant where a large party was seated.

The decor along with the vinyl tablecloths were outdated. Our waitress was nice. it just took her a while to get to us. Once she did service was good. I ordered a bottle of San Pellegrino water. I wish the menu disclosed he size of the bottle. It was too large for one person. It came opened and when I asked for the lid it had already been thrown out.

A smaller bottle would be a more appropriate size. We ordered the fresh sauteed calamari in garlic and butter sauce. It came as breaded calamari in garlic and butter. It tasted like frozen calamari and was not tender. The menu misrepresented this item. The salad seemed like bag lettuce. There was nothing special about the creamy blue cheese dressing.

Our main courses was the saving grace. The in house made sausage and peppers and onions was delicious and a large portion. The shrimp fru diavolo over linguini. The shrimps were huge, the sauce flavorful, and the pasta cooked well. We may be back next time we're in the area, but will try the two other highly rated Italian restaurants before returning. Some attention to decor, hospitality training, and menu presentation may help set this place apart from other Italian restaurants in the area.

This is an old school restaurant in Elmira that our family loves. Our favorite dishes are the shrimp scampi, filet medallions, chicken scampi and basically any garlic based dish. They go very heavy on the garlic- so this is not for the faint of heart on that note! The food and service are great. The restaurant itself is a little dated in decor but we can't complain because we just enjoy it so much.

Service was excellent. Steak cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is dated but its a supper club fer gads sakes! Tons of food though. I couldn't finished the medallions although I wanted to. Ate too much of the calamari; salad with tons of anchovies. All good. Bread slices were huge with big whipped butter packs. Everything was huge. Parking was a bit down the street but I got a spot right out front. And yeah, under the trestle us a bit creepy - not sure what that industrial neighborhood is all about anyway.

Yum yum yum! First time visiting and I really enjoyed myself. The other reviews are correct when they say garlic is the shining star. Luckily for me, I love garlic! When we got there (I was part of a large group) there was bread waiting on the table which was much appreciated. Our waiter was well organized and efficient in handling all of our orders - everything came out in a timely manner.

I ordered the shrimp scampi which was prepared differently than other Italian places - so heads up if you're expecting the kind served over pasta. The scampi here is lightly battered and come about 8 large shrimp in an order. You can get pasta as a side but it comes with red sauce. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm and it was huge! Lots of leftovers, which I'm ok with. I was very happy with my first visit!

Holy portions! Pretty good food and giant portions. Awesome house made dressings for all their salads! Friendly staff I do wish they had bigger water glasses though.

Decided to try Libs for a family dinner last night. The food was horrible. The server used a cafeteria cart to bring out our food. We waited at least 45 minutes for our entrees. Half of the way through dinner, cold air started bellowing out of the heating system. To top it off, a $250 check was delivered to our table without the normal pen and without a check holder. Never again. Ever.
