At The Kitchen Porch, we conspire and create exquisite meals for our clients' special events with superb production and thoughtful service. We are passionate about food and supporting our local community. We care about people, animals and our earth. We source produce in season from local farms. All meat and poultry is humanely raised and slaughtered, and seafood is sourced from sustainable fisheries, all traceable.
Jan Buhrman, M.S. Ed., has been cooking delicious, locally sourced meals on Martha's Vineyard for over twenty five years. She combines her passion for food with a love of teaching to enhance people's understanding of their food through farm tours, cooking classes, and nutritional workshops. All programs are designed to connect people with local food systems.
From the initial client-caterer meeting to the big day, catering involves planning, preparation, teamwork, creativity, and flexibility. From the first concept to the last uneaten bite that gets sent to our pigs or composted, our a catering team works closely with each client to custom craft a true farm to table experience.
It depends on your event. We have a standard staff to guest ratio that we use according to the kind of service you need. For formal events such as weddings, we staff one server for every ten guests. For buffets and more casual events, we staff one server for every 20 guests. We always staff according to your needs.

I had their hot sausage sandwich at a farmers market and it was hands down the best sausage sandwich I've ever had.

I had the delightful experience of using The Kitchen Porch" for a reception event following my mothers memorial service. I began by looking for a catering service that was generally organic, farm to table concepts ~ which is what The Kitchen Porch is all about! Over several weeks of planning done through emails and phone calls I was pleased to work out details for our event with wonderful suggestions from Jan as the owner, directly.

The hardest part became making a selection from all the delectable options available. I found it easy to work with them to accommodate our needs based on budget and what fit the occasion. She was able to modify the menu in any way that would be needed such as to balance elderly guests, mixed with younger guests, vegetarians as well as meat eaters, as well as deliveries, set-up and all the details involved along the way.

When the day of the event arrived, we found everything went seamlessly, the staff had everything set up in a beautiful presentation, with the food delivered throughout the reception in a well balanced manner, every time a new tray was presented there was a new delightful tasty nibble offered, every bit as yummy as the last. The balance of food was perfect, we did not run out of anything, and everyone found something they liked.

We were not left with a "heavy" food "overload" feeling, but with light fresh foods, and refreshing drinks which included cucumber mint flavored water and a light fruit punch. The staff was friendly, receptive, and professional. Thank you so much to everyone at "The Kitchen Porch", I look forward to working with you again in the future.

I recently used the services of Kitchen Porch Catering for my son's Wedding on Martha's Vineyard. We decided to have Paella with our Chicken entree along with grilled vegetables. We also had their famous popovers that they serve every week at the West Tisbury's Farmers Market. The food was a hit and the staff that worked our event were professional and friendly.

We also purchased from them lobster salad that was served on brioche rolls for the Rehearsal Dinner the night before. The food was as good as the weather and the ocean view that weekend. I would recommend Kitchen Porch for any special event you are planning on the Vineyard.
