The DeFranco business started in 1926 by Philip and Teodora DeFranco. At that time the business was an Italian grocery store and butcher shop. After their retirement in 1976 they gave the business to their son Martin DeFranco who moved the shop from Roseto to West Bangor Road, Bangor, PA where the business is today. In 1989, Joseph took over the family business and continues to compliment the fine quality of meat which his family once sold. Today Joe has made the company grow into a seven day a week business with catering services available anytime.

With Fathers Day approaching I am reminded of some of the great dishes Grandpop and my father cooked for us. Naturally being butchers their focus was the main entree. Grandpop when he first immigrated lived in a tenement apartment above an Italian Restaurant on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx with his older brother Michael.

I went along with a friend to pick up her order. She loves this place! She orders what she calls Easter Pie every year. It must be really good because we drove a very long way to get here. (She's from Northampton.)

Had the Brooklyn Cheesesteak (amazing this must be tried) and Italian Hoagie (delicious). Tried both the italian soft roll and the semolina roll and both were very good italian rolls, the semolina was slightly better. Hands down the best in the area. Looking forward to trying more of their menu.

I always love stopping in for my special, a delicious eggplant and parmesan on a warm bun, oh it's a delight! And while I'm waiting, they make you feel so welcome, like family! If you get back on those back roads, stop in and enjoy a real treat and meet the family, it's A-1.!

Stopped in while just driving by. Owners were so nice! They made me a delicious gluten free sandwich. Hard to find a good tasting bread but this was really good! Ingredients were fresh. They even taped the packaging on the sandwich with masking tape. Totally reminded me of the Italian deli I went to as a kid. Would definitely recommend! Plan to go back when they reopen after the holidays!

You won't go home disappointed with any of the purchases here. The atmosphere reminds me of tiny on the inside but full of a larger character in taste and etiquette. Catering offered and we will take them up on that. Anyone looking to work in a mah and pops shop ought to meet these charming couple.

If you want great food from lunch sandwiches to sausage for dinner, you can't come to a better place! Oh and if you have a party you want catered, I highly recommend this business, I would never consider another!

We live in Stroudsburg and it's well worth the drive. Everything on the menu is amazing and we had their catering for our wedding a few months ago. I can't say enough about the family AND the food. Make sure to buy the book and learn about the family's history as well

AMAZING. Was looking for a caterer for our small wedding (30ppl) and after our event yesterday I will be going back again and again. The food was delicious, presentation was beautiful and the service was great - they even included a personalized thank you note. They are a little off the beaten path for us but they are now at the top of our take out list. Highly recommend Joe and Joelene for any event you may be having it just a regular dinner.
