Beautiful and tasty food, local seafood and seasonal veggies and sauces. Great wine list. They were also very accommodating to special dietary needs. Very good service, Dakota took good care of us. Next time I want to sit at the bar and watch the chefs/sous chefs at work!

We LOVED every dish! It was the best Mac n Cheese we've ever had, and all the dishes were amazing. It was our favorite, and most memorable meal, out of a week of eating out in Charleston. Get reservations!

A true Charleston experience. We waited about 45 minutes for a seat inside but it was well worth the wait. We could immediately tell by the homey atmosphere that we were in for a treat. I got the duck confit and it was one of the best meals I could remember having. It had a healthy, comforting taste with superb presentation. The rest of my party agreed it was a very memorable lunch.

Fried Green Tomatoes. What a perfect start and done so well here. Cute, small restaurant. Solid staff. Good menu. And I forgot to order the onion strings.

Great food in a cozy building. Their Mac n cheese is to die for. Their Japanese chicken salad is a great appetizer or entree. They also have a lovely outdoor patio but it was too cold to sit outside last night.

Love the vibe! I've place is old fashioned and lovely, the service is great and the food is demurely on point. We had a duck confit that is very crispy and the calamari that is well mixed with the sesame oil and vegetables, the seasoning is great! Lastly, hands down to the mussels that I almost drank up the sauce with the shells, it's a must-have

Three words. Fried green tomatoes. Get it. SO GOOD. White wine truffled mussels was amazing. So fresh and soooooo good. They give you a lot too. Seared local fish was very good. Basically, whatever you get here, you won't be disappointed. The biggest mistake my sister and I made was eating a late lunch (bc we were starving) before our early dinner meal here.

If we had known how good this place was, we would've starved to death so we could have a huge appetite. I can't imagine what their desserts are like. My sister and I were really sad that we absolutely did not have room to eat dessert. Crying inside.

Had an excellent dinner here with some girlfriends. Dakota was an awesome server, attentive but not overbearing. Started with the croquettes and pear Bibb salad, which were delicious. Everyone was happy with their entree, my favorites were the basil shrimp and Thai risotto, but the special fish dishes were also great. The 5 people in our party were a little crowded into a 4-top but overall we really enjoyed the experience.

We were so impressed with this place. Cute outdoor seating with heat lamps, service was great, and the pork chops were amazing. Definitely recommend getting some truffle fries, too. We'll definitely be going back.

Met up with a few girls here. The place was very nice. We loved the outside seating. The food was great and they have a good salad selection. The waitress was very nice and the wine is delicious. I'd recommend it!

I enjoyed the Pabolana and mozzarella fried chicken, served with a not-too-spicy rice and zucchini/ squash vegetable side. Unbelievably delishous. Like a fireworks display of flavor in my mouth. My wife enjoyed the red snapper. Outstanding said she. One of my favorites, if not the best value for the quality food. Chef Rachel has been here for 20 years! Cudo, again!

One of the best restaurants downtown in my opinion! Perfect for dinner or lunch. Make sure to get reservations! Pictured below: Grilled Basil Shrimp Entree

Came here with a couple of girl friends and I loved that they had vegan friendly options. It seemed like farm to table because they used fresh ingredients to create a unique spin on some dishes. The cocktails are good too!

Delicious! Girls trip lunch. Better go on Saturday because they are closed Sunday and Monday. Food is quality with healthy portions. Mimosas and Bellinis were also yummy. Great Charleston vibe in a house and outdoor seating is a must on a good weather day.

Well.we wanted to like it but the experience fell short of the mark! We had a reservation and we requested to be seated inside because it was chilly outside. The hostess told us that it was comfortable outside (which really wasn't for her to decide) and that we'd be fine. The whole experience felt very transactional from the beginning and unless we were willing to wait 30 minutes, our only option was outside.

A few minutes later, she skimmed by and asked how it was and we said "okay" but didn't seem phased by our lukewarm response. We finished our drinks and appetizer but decided not to stay for dinner. You felt like they were more interested in turning tables than providing good service which isn't what you'd expect for a restaurant with their prices.

We had a much better experience at Fleet Landing and it was well worth it. Although this place came highly recommended, the experience was not worth the time or money for us. We would have been better off staying at the The Blind Tiger and having a burger and beer, minus the attitude.

One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. The experience is down-to-earth in a old Charleston home, but the flavors are out of this world. I got the steak and was not disappointed. From the appetizers, to the wine, to the entree's, I was very pleased.

Good food with delicious sweet tea. Had the General Tao's chicken. A southern spin on a traditional Chinese menu item. Nice outdoor seating area.

Cru came highly recommended and it lives up to the amazing reputation! Sat at the Chef's counter (love doing that) ans had a blast talking with the chef team. So talented and such great food! Great people from the front door all The way through. Can't wait to go back!

Hubbie and I came in in a Wednesday night at 7:30pm with no reservations and were able to be seated right away. Truffle mussels 4.5/5: Delicious! Absolutely loved the sauce. You can actually taste the truffle a bit. They have a couple extra pieces of crostini too since we had a bunch of extra sauce sauce left. Thigh the crostini were just okay. Almost too hard. Fried tomatoes 5/5: The combination of the fried tomatoes and feta, balanced out with sweetness of the pork belly was absolutely fire 4/5 Thai risotto: what a pleasant, interesting twist on risotto!

It turned out how I imagined it would, in a good way! There was plenty of seafood to go around. 2/5 Bread pudding: this was the only dish that disappointed us. We didn't even finish it and we hardly ever waste food. It just was sooo bland and had no depth to it in terms of flavor and texture.

2021 - another visit to Charleston, another good meal at Cru Cafe! Fried Green Tomatoes, and Vine-Ripe Tomato & Mozzarella were delicious appetizers. Fried Calamari was good. The Fried Oysters were a bit too fishy for our taste. For entrees, the Heritage Farm Pork Schnitzel, and the Poblano & Mozzarella Fried Chicken were delicious. The Oberon Cabernet Sauvignon was disappointing, especially at $12 a glass.

Make sure to make reservations in advance! 2017 - Through a mixup, our table was delayed, so we went down the street for a drink. Upon our return, the manager comp'd us two appetizers, to ensure our experience was positive, which it was. Also note that dining is in a converted home, which makes for an intimate atmosphere, so make sure to confirm indoor seating if that is a requirement, as space inside is limited.

For appetizers, the Potato Soup, the Mussels, and the French Fries were delicious, and the Fried Tomatoes and Fried Calamari were both good. Tomato & Mozzarella, and General Tso's Brussels Sprouts were ok. For entrees, Salmon, Rib Eye steak special, and Mac and Cheese were delicious. The Goat Salad, and the Shrimp and Pasta were very good. This was one of our favorite restaurants.

Always great, but make sure you make a reservation As always, the food at Cru Cafe is great. Maybe it is why it is a fallback place to eat when we have visitors. First, don't go for dinner without reservations. Even when they opened at 5:30 multiple groups were turned away without one. Fried Green Tomatoes was a great way to start the meal. You can't go wrong with a dish that has Pork Belly Croutons, over Feta and fried green tomatoes The wife enjoyed her White Wine Truffled Mussels.

The double-cut Grilled Pork Chop is the best in the city, or anywhere else I have eaten for that matter. The only disappointing part of the meal was the special Scallops over pasta the wife ordered. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the pasta sauce was watery as if they did not drain the pasta before plating. I wish we would have stayed for dessert; because it would have been better than the place we went to down the street.

Had a great Lunch experience at the Cru Cafe! Sat on the porch and enjoyed the view and action on the street nearby. Every portion of my meal was excellent! Fried green tomatoes! Shrimp basket! And the Orange Sherbet Cake was the best cake I have had maybe ever!

Excellent place with a lot of seating. Loved all the food and the drinks. House salad and the Tso's chicken were kids top choice, sandwiches were lovely as well.

This is more rated for an experience rather than food. Don't get me wrong it has reservations during slow hours so people obviously love it here. the food looks delicious from pictures, too. It really just wasn't worth the 45 minute wait for me. We had the truffle fries-- they were ok but solved my hunger problem. I would not order again. The general Taos chicken looked amazing, but was very bitter and just not my thing. Cute little business though.

What a great dinner! Sat at the chefs table. Super nice people on staff. Very professional. Just wonderful Southern hospitality. Ate the smoked salmon, the risotto, and the macaroni and cheese. Special shout to the cook who did apps, sides and desserts. watching him work was a pleasure.

We happened to get in here as walk-ins and so glad we did. The hostess was so nice and were able to squeeze us in. We were brought to a nice table by the window, and although the interior is a little smaller, the tables are spread out very well. First we got the fried green tomatoes. Get them and you'll thank me later. Next we had the fish and the night's special of pork with a creamy cheese sauce over polenta.

It was really great. Apparently this is rarely on the menu so if you see it while you are there, make sure to get it. We finished the night with a cheesecake covered in strawberries which was also very good. If you're looking for something for lunch or dinner, I would recommend heading here!

Great place for food. Tables inside were socially distanced with only four tables in the main room. There was an option to sit at the bar. There are plenty of tables outside. The salmon was cooked perfectly and came with a Greek salad. It would've been perfect if there was 30% less salt on top of the salmon. I would skip the Asian slaw. It lacked vibrant color and freshness and didn't have much flavor. It gets busy so would recommend reservations.
