WTAF? Chompies is no longer a New York Deli. It's more gentrified and getting closer and closer to Jason's Deli. It's no longer good, no longer "Homey Feeling" and the feel of New York wanes hard. The Family no longer owns this place and it's a shell of what it once was. The Corned beef and Pastrami is not close to the same. The Pot.

Salad comes from a container. Potato pancakes fail. Knishes are absolutely horrible. TBH.the bagels don't quite taste the same either. Lox plate is gone.and so am I. Place absolutely sucks now. Staff is almost all gone and they have weak service which I'm going to assume comes from the New management.

Went this past week for breakfast; long time customers. The Hostess and server were both pleasant. We ordered cheese omelets, one with bacon. The bacon in the omelet was bacon bits, not actual bacon. The taste of these bits was artificial in comparison to actual bacon. This is not the way to cut costs considering the price of the omelets. Butter was so warm that is was melting in the ceramic container.chilled butter used to be the norm in individual servings.

This was the second time we have been to eat; last time it was lunch. At that time the salad came after the hot food, the lettuce was in huge brown chunks. The fish had no flavor. I miss the days before Chompie's was sold. None of the seasoned staff.poor quality food.disappointing changes.

This place is one on my very top places to eat. Every meal is a real treat! If I could only request a closer site, let's say. SE I'd love to enjoy more often; and their bakery a real delicatessen.

Not sure what I can say about the negative reviews except those individuals must be really spoiled to think chompies isn't delicious. Loved my half grandpa ruby reuben and matzo ball soup. Got a mosh mosh to go which was delicious last night. My daughter who isn't easy to please loved her tuna salad sandwich. Definitely will return.

I enjoyed my breakfast at Chompie's with one exception. Our omelets were large and they didn't skimp on the fillings. I like that you can select any type of bagel and cream cheese with your omelet. They really do have great bagels! My one issue was that the mimosa flight looked and tasted like it was almost all juice with very little champagne.

If I wanted juice, I would have ordered juice. If I'm paying the cost for a mimosa, I expect it to have a decent amount of champagne in it. That part was really disappointing. Our server was nice, but it took her a long time to bring our bill when she could see that someone had cleared our plates a while ago and we were just sitting at the table doing nothing. Overall, an okay place for breakfast, but there are other places I prefer.

Went here for breakfast around 8:30 on Saturday. There wasn't as much people until around 9 when it started to get busy. Coffee tastes ehh. We ordered the all American combo and it was definitely worth the price and tasted pretty good. The service was fine, there was a party in the back of the restaurant so we did wait a while for our waiters attention, but we understood. Overall nice breakfast spot. The bakery section is overpriced for sure, just go door to sprouts for that.

Really want to like this place but it just gets worse and worse. Tried it again. This is my second poor review because I wanted it to improve. Sadly it is just old and doesn't feel clean anymore. The bathroom was downright scary. Felt dirty after being in there. Place is ready for a makeover or give it up. Chopped liver sandwich is off the menu but our harried waitress had them make it for me anyway. Not fresh! Gotta find a new place for trips to the city from Tucson. We really like a clean well lighted place with exceptional food. This isn't it anymore.

Chompie's has a great deli and bakery as well as sit down dining. I was looking for a dessert to take to a friend's house. Their desserts were abundant and each one looked better than the next. It was very difficult to make a decision. I finally honed in on a plate of assorted cookies. They were buttery and tasty. Free parking outside.

Riddle me a this. how many times does it take to make a tuna melt on a bagel? We had to make it twice but even if he 2nd time they could not make the sandwich correct this is not rocket science however this why kids should stay in school as this dinning experience was so bad that people around us were just as angry about how we were treated and they left also disgusted on how they could not make our food correctly

I ordered a half of a pastrami sandwich with matzah ball soup and Cole slaw. I'll start by saying the soup was excellent. The bread on the sandwich was hard and stale and the pastrami was cold. I told the waiter and he said he would bring me new bread. After 10 minutes He came by and asked me if I wanted a to go box for the sandwich. I said no and reminded him about the bread.

He went and got it quickly and was going to leave it on the table for me to reassemble myself. I looked at him like he was crazy and he asked if I wanted him to take it back to the kitchen for them to do. When the sandwich finally came back it was hot and very good. The help at the deli/bakery counter were very good.

Being raised in NY/NJ and then visiting a bagel joint in the Phoenix area hits different. haha I ended up dining here on account of a business trip, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal! Bagels were pretty well made, the portion size was generous and the drip coffee was pretty good as well! I had a delicious and filling meal here.

There is plentiful parking, large indoor space with colorfully painted walls of broadway musical playbills. I would definitely consider stopping by here again if in the area!

I had lunch here, Wendy's Choice. It was great. The strawberry mayo definitely made the sandwich. There was quite a bit of sandwich on my plate so I recommend bringing your appetite. The picture shows exactly half of the original amount. Also ask for extra strawberry mayo. It's really good!

I've never been to this location. I came here on a whim (I had cabin fever), and I'm glad I did! I had a lemonade with a cragel (a scrumptious, tender, chewy half-bagel-half-croissant delight) with their Lox spread! The cragel was toasted to perfection, the Lox spread full of yummy salmon, and the lemonade was ice-cold and refreshing! I will be returning here with my best friend very soon! Also, did you know Chompie's sometimes has little bagels at their bakery that you can buy for your fur baby? If they're available, I'll get one for my Service Dog in Training as a special treat!

We love this Chompies location, and have been customers for several years. This morning, I had the Greek feta omelet with hash browns and toasted rye, husband had the protein pancakes. As always, the food is hot and delicious. They were very busy, but we were seated right away, and we didn't wait long for our meals. If you're lucky enough to have Barbi as your server, it makes the whole experience at this location that much more enjoyable. She's a gem who has been a server here for, as she says, "100 years." lol We love her.

So disappointed. I have been going to Chompie's since they were on 32nd Street Near Shea back in 1985. I wanted a corned beef on rye like I used to get. First a full sandwich was $19.00.! I still wanted it. An extra slice if rye would be another $1. They always charged something for it but $1 for one slice? The sandwich came and the corned beef no longer tasted like homemade kosher beef.

Instead it tasted like pre-made elsewhere meat. It was dry, no fat whatever, and no taste. It was terrible. Then we found out the place is no longer owned by the family but some corporation that obviously doesn't care what the food used to taste like. They are going to remodel the bathrooms but they should redo the whole delapidated place and bring back the good meals. Chicken liver had sugar in it. I won't ever go back and now I'm afraid to even try the one on Cactus.

Great food and friendly service. I was impressed with the service, he was very personable and very attentive. The food was excellent and the portion size was more than fair. We went for breakfast and can't wait to go back for lunch to try one of their giant deli sandwiches. They also have a phenomenal bakery, make sure you take something home with you.

Jan 6,2022 Breakfast eggs, hashbrowns and Toast. Recieved cold. Asked for cup of soup recieved small bowl ( warm ) no crackers! Offered me horrible bagel chips. Table top sticky, not clean. Year ago everything was spotless. Food excellent including server.

I hadn't been here for quite a while but enjoyed my breakfast last week. The combo came with eggs, bacon, hash browns and a fresh bagel with cream cheese. Everything was good and the service provided by the experienced wait staff was very prompt.

We had omelette and cream cheese bagels. Both were delicious and fresh. They offer a variety of options; sweet and savoury. Highly recommend it.

Terrible location do not bother. We've tried this location 3 different times over the last two years- poor service, poor food delivery. Today was the last straw with this location. Had delivered loveys tapas and the latkes were over done and very dried out with a tiny smear of sour cream on top of wilted lettuce and where were the toppings with capers etc?

No where! Then my daughter ordered breakfast Cornbeef Ash Skillet. DISGUSTING A huge chunk of egg shell was left in her order and the meat has a huge piece of fat throw in. Also ordered a New Yorker that was very dry little coleslaw no dressing dry bread. Patty melt was good and brisket sandwich was good. Spent almost a hundred dollars for all and no pickles came either.

This location lacks care in their food prep as it's not our first time of having poor quality. You should retrain your cooks and get them to understand respecting their food and the consumers! Drive to the Tempe location where everything all the time is perfect and care is given!

Chompies is always so consistent with their food. If you want real deli food this is the place to go. Unless you have a super large appetite a half sandwich is more than enough. They have fresh bagels and a variety of ever so yummy pastries. They also now have gluten free and low carb choices. The only thing that could make it better would be to have a location in Tucson!

It had been way too long since I was at a Chompies. With a breakfast craving, we set out for bagels. I'll start with I really miss their Cheddar Bagel. It was a perfect orange color and cheddar flavor. I went with the Salted Pretzel and the Husband went with Egg. Their bagels just have a really good flavor you can't find anywhere else. Next time we are going to go into the restaurant.

OK, right off the bat, the food was as good as it was last 2015 when I ate at this location. Normally I go to the Paradise Valley location which sadly closed. Craving deli, my friend and I came for lunch. My friend ordered his favorite the Mile High Hot Pastrami on Rye with a side of Potato Salad and I ordered my favorite Chopped Liver appetizer. The food came out fast and tasted great. and they still give the complimentary Pickles.

My only 3 comments are, this is the 2nd restaurant lately that my friend used the men's bathroom and there was no soap to wash your hands. I would think during this day and age of what's been happening in the past year, you would want your customers and employees to wash and have soap for their hands. 2nd. comment is though our server was very friendly, he looked like he was so bored/tired, had to sit down at the table next to us to take our order, walked around aimlessly scratching his head and then delivering our food to us.

Also it would of been nice to give me a heads up that they did not have bagels chips that is served with the Chopped Liver, they substituted Challah rolls, which I would of not rather had. 3rd comment is, great customer service from the corporate office. We had a problem with 2 of our gift cards and the restaurant manager, called corporate and they called my friend back within that day to help resolve the problem. Kudos to that! All in all Atmosphere: typical deli. Food: very good. Service: OK. I can't wait till they open the new location!

Love Chompie's so much, great warm acknowledgement arriving and departing. The service this visit was a little "eh" but not terrible. My partner and I wanted matzah ball soup with chicken so he ordered soup and a sandwich with 1/2 of a corned beef sandwich on rye, piled high with delicious beef and a small container of cole slaw that he practically licks clean every time.

I usually will follow suit but today I wanted something different with my soup.so when I ordered a grilled cheese with tomato, pepper jack and turkey I definitely detected a face from across the table hahaha! I felt like a gamble what can I say.wow did that pay off! The sourdough was perfect cheese like spicy velvet and the turkey so fresh and moist! Will definitely do it again! After the potato pancake appetizer and the soup I inhaled half my sandwich and took the rest home.

I ordered a brisket dinner to go for my husband. It was amazing! Sliced thin, so tender and flavorful. You get 2 sides and your choice of salad or soup. For myself I ordered a Shirli's LA Jolla salad. The salad was huge. More than enough for 2 people. I did enjoy my salad even though the chicken slices were on the dry side. Also my crumbled feta was missing which is why I ordered the salad. But because the brisket was so delicious I'll definitely be back.

As always, Chompies was.okay. Granted, I'm spoiled deli-wise from eating at the legendary Corky and Lenny's in Cleveland, Ohio, for years. The tuna salad was solid, though heavy on the onions. The corned beef was pretty fatty (should have ordered lean) but my son loved his pancakes. Again, solid food but nothing spectacular. Our server was great and the overall service was strong. The scrambled eggs were steady, not much can be done with those. Brought some soup home for the wife but she was not impressed.
