Catering by Uptown was our caterer/vendor for a wedding at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The had an hour and a half to set up all the furniture for the ceremony and reception and the mobile kitchen. They pulled it all off seamlessly! I had two day-of coordinators to help orchestrate the day and they both were so sweet and thoughtful. Ya-Maila was detailed and quick on her feet, and the kitchen manager (didn't catch her name) was so kind and thoughtful. They went above and beyond to make our special day run so smoothly, it was really magical thanks to them!

Catering by Uptown was the vendor for my wedding on 10/9/21. Due to Covid, we had well under 50 guests. Once the wedding ended, I sent an email to one of the managers expressing my concerns with services. After several days, a manager reached out. She was very friendly and reassuring. She wanted to talk to her team about all that transpired. I received another call later on in which she apologized for the issues in question and asked how could "they" make this right because offering us a dinner or trying to put a dollar amount on things would not suffice.

I told her my husband and I would like to think on it and she assured us that another manager or someone would be in contact. After not hearing from anyone, I texted her asking about someone reaching out. Finally, someone did. This person denied everything and put the blame on us. His tone was soo condescending and he kept cutting me off that my husband had to chime in.

He then became passive aggressive and said we can take the $500 he's been authorized to offer us. We asked to speak to the owners. They don't speak to clients. I posted pics disputing all their lies. They said I arrived late, my decorator was late but timestamps on photos say otherwise. My guests apparently set wherever they wanted hence why they served ppl the wrong meals including citrus to a severely allergic guest. Yes, all this was sent beforehand.

The lack of honesty after speaking to two different managers and the disrespect is not worth utilizing this vendor for your special day! I emailed the first manager thanking her for being a fresh of breath air despite all of this and no response.

Please whatever you do before you sign your contract, read it and maybe have a lawyer go over it with you. The service was terrible after I signed the contract. They would not compromise with my schedule at all. They charged me a deposit of over $1700 and did not provide nothing and no services to me. When I decided to cancel the contract they showed no remorse and told me I was not going to get none of my deposit back.

Also I signed the contract in March of 2021 for my wedding which was scheduled for July 31, 2021 and canceled on April 13, 2021 which was over 3 months in advance. My contract was only dined for 3 weeks. So please whatever you do stay away from this place! They are Sharks waiting to devour and get over on whoever they can. I've posted a copy of the last of the text messages to the person who signed us up and stop helping after she made the sale.

CHELSEA! Catering by uptown worked perfectly with us during the whole process even up to the last minute changes. Chelsea was absolutely fabulous she was on top of everything. She helped us figure out the perfect way to suit us and who we are in every aspect of the day. We love ya Chelsea! Only 2 things servers wait a little longer before taking plates.

One guest was sent home with food because her food was taken too soon. And owners please put a trashcan in the bridal suite At anchors Inn 2 minor things that CHELSEA handled gracefully and everything was perfect.

I attended a wedding at Celebrations at the Bay. One of the ladies serving the food was very rude and disrespectful, she pushed my son against the table and asked him if he spoke English because she wanted him to move. I was very disappointed with the way we were treated by this person, my son who is a child did not deserve to be treated like this by a grown adult. I think the lady was Dominican. She also yelled at one of the other servers.

Was invited to an event at The Villa located in Beltsville, MD a few days ago, everything was beautiful, the cake was gorgeous. The whole reception was stunning and very organized. I did on the other hand had a few issues during the event. What was not pleasing to see is the rude server with curly hair and Caribbean accent yelling at the other waiters who looked very younger.

I fell in love with this venue two years ago and just recently got married in mid-October 2020. I guess since COVID, their quality assurance went downhill. First of all, everything mostly went smoothly thanks to my DJ, Maid of Honor, and me. I was EXTREMELY disappointed to have been married and go out to the pier to take photos. WITH BIRD POOP ALL OVER THE DECK!

I am talking a massive amount that any venue who knew a wedding was coming would power-wash. This was unacceptable! THEN I go inside, have my first dance, and as I am watching my husband dance with his mother, the coordinator (Vicky) decides to tell me that there are more people than expected in the venue. She says she only thought 100 were coming and I can easily prove on my final paperwork AND from our discussion that I had 109.

Even after she apparently went to my parents and told them, they told her NOT to tell me, she did anyway. WHY WOULD YOU TELL THE BRIDE OF ANY PROBLEMS THE DAY OF HER WEDDING!? Especially during the first dances. again, unacceptable. Then at the end of the night, she is asking me about cleaning everything up, getting the vases, etc. I am not in charge of that, I am the bride and I am leaving with my husband during my send-off!

I loved my wedding day because of my own vendors. not because of them. They said I would have a person to make sure I was fed & had drinks and that only happened in the beginning of the reception. Appetizers were delicious, but the entrees I thought were mediocre at best. Definitely not as good as what I had at the tasting. Good luck to any brides who decide to book!

I cannot thank Catering by Uptown enough for the great tasting food they provided for my wedding! They are a very professional company to work with, they provided a sample menu to me prior to my wedding, and the day of the wedding it tasted just the same. All my guests enjoyed the food, I really recommend them, such a reliable catering company to work with!

I had my wedding here it was great. but lord forbid if your wedding get Canceled by a GLOBAL SHUT DOWN per STATE LAW! They refuse to give your money back. this is completed bs. And I will make sure everybody knows this and will not recommend anybody to come here.

Please do not book with Uptown Catering. With COVID-19, they have been unresponsive and less than willing to work with our venue, charging us more for less people and offering 0 refunds for cancellations. They have been rude, absolutely horrendous to work with and more than unhelpful. As a bride trying to get married in this climate, every single other vendor I work with has been kind and helpful. I cannot say the same with Uptown Catering. I urge you, please do not book with them.

We used Catering by Uptown in conjunction with Celebrations at The Bay and it was amazing. all of our guests were raving about the crab cakes and lobster bisque. Guests were saying it was the best crab cake they have had in a while. The presentation was well executed and our dinner looked picture perfect plated. Service was quick too during the wedding. I would absolutely recommend them.

We had my daughters wedding at their Bayfront Club venue on 6/1/19. Everything from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the reception went perfect. The food was excellent and they saw to the wedding party and our guests every need. Brittany who was the wedding coordinator did an outstanding job and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The venue is off of the water so an outside ceremony by the pier made for a splendid day. Thank you for making this day very special and one we will always remember!

I had my wedding at Celebrations at the Bay back in 5/2018 one of there venue that they have catering through. I would say the venue in itself was beautiful and the day coordinator Eileen was wonderful. She was a great help and attended to us like Family. The Food is Great! As far as the Catering by Uptown I feel they nickle and dime you at the very end.

We wanted top Shelf premium bar at the wedding and when we looked at the list what is considered top shelf was not on the list. So we had to tell them how many bottles of what we wanted and pay per bottle plus service and tax fee. They also wanted to charge us to have our rehearsal there for 1 hr from $300-500 pending the time of day which does not include service fee and taxes.

They fail to tell you at the very beginning all the details that needs to be paid at the end includes services fee and tax fee on everything. The amount of money that one spends on that day the least they can do is include the 1 hr rehearsal fee for free. By the way rehearsal can be done Monday - Thursday only!. One more thing keep in mind that you need to feed your vendors as well and that is due at the final payment and guess what that also includes a service and tax fee. So beware before you sign on that dotted line, make sure they explain to you all the extra be that will be need to be paid.

We used catering by Uptown for our son's Bar Mitzvah. We used the Anchor Inn site in Pasadena. Everything was wonderful. The site was awesome and such a nice location for out of town guests who aren't used to all the water access in Maryland. People raved about the food. The day of coordinator was great too. Everything was taken care of in a very professional manner. Highly recommend. We were thrilled.

Well. wouldn'tyaknow - I've come full circle in this wedding event planning experience. And the person I defamed in a previous review - has won me over. Yes, Jeff. He's also a consultant with Catering by Uptown. And I knew this. But what I didn't know was that our paths would cross again - especially not this quickly. The venue he is connected with via Uptown is more of what my daughter wants for her wedding day.

And so far - we, Jeff and I, are getting along swimmingly. Not that we didn't before - I just felt he lacked the proper level of professionalism after we declined his services. I do believe we have something here. Stay tuned for the full review of our experience. The wedding is in late October of this year!

I was recommended to Catering by Uptown by a colleague that said their food and service was very good. They truly did not disappoint. All of my guests raved about how the food was the best they've ever had a wedding. I was very pleased with how all of the staff went above and beyond to make sure my night was perfect.

We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Villa. The thing that sold me on booking this place for our venue was the luxury of having a Planner (Miranda) through out the wedding preparation and a Day of coordinator (Vicky) that made sure everything was set and flowing. Miranda kept me on track with details and deadlines and offered decor ideas when it was time to choose table linen, place settings, food menu, etc.

The day of coordinator was great as well, I didn't have to worry/stress about setting up any decor, they handled it all for us and everything looked beautiful. My husband and I were able to really enjoy our reception and have a good time with our guests. The food was awesome.! everyone loved the cocktail hour with waiters walking around serving our guests. I recommend Catering by Uptown, they are A+ with catering all aspects of your event needs.

Phenomenal food. The steak and salmon was delicious. My boyfriend doesn't even like salmon and he ate it and raved about how delicious it was. Best food I've ever had at a wedding. Great service and a beautiful venue at waverly mansion. I'm in my best friends wedding in June and she is using uptown catering at the anchor inn, she made the right choice. Kirk Huserik, one of the event managers was very helpful and kind.

I worked with Jeff and Sandra B was my coordinator, and Omg! They are amazing. Uptown was worth every penny. Service was impeccable, food to die for and my wedding was seamless. Nothing went wrong thanks to Sandra! I would relive that day over and over again. Thank YOU SO MUCH!

Just had one of the worst experiences of my life. We had our wedding at the Waverly mansion and it was a total disaster. The only things that went right were things that we took care of like the entertainment. Our wedding coordinator Katelyn, who only recently started working for the company, despite numerous verbal assurances that she would be there for every little detail, the day of was no where to be found half of the time and had an attitude right as we arrived about "it not being her job to herd guests to the ceremony, that's what the signs are for." Yes, I think it was your job and I also think it was Uptown by Catering's job to assure the safety of the guests of the wedding.

Although apparently according to Rob, one of the owners, response, it is not this company's responsibility to provide security for their guests and their vehicles. All of our gift money from guests, thousands of dollars, was stolen from our vehicles while we were celebrating. This happened before 9 and I was not notified until after 11 once all of the money had already been taken.

Our car was right in the front of the parking lot and had ANY security (lights, cameras, or a PERSON if you can't add those things to the property as you claim) been present then this incident would never have happened. The doors WERE locked, the key was placed on the wheel well for the best man to return to the car shortly and would have been a perfectly fine hiding place had our car not been under surveillance by SOMEONE when the key was placed there. That's why there was no sign of forced entry.

And as to the license plate of the suspicious vehicle, it WAS reported by our guest who saw it as a temporary tag. There should have been some kind of security lights (there was one orange light across the street) cameras, or a security person and there was nothing. Then staff members were overheard by guests saying "the checks are in the car." Although they of course claimed no knowledge of anything when we discovered the robbery.

This is NOT libel as it was an observation by OUR guest whose husband was also in attendance who is a DC police officer. His first thought was due to the circumstances and this conversation overheard by his wife, that this was an inside job. Of course nothing can be proven as all staff members claimed innocence. I'm not even going to mention the numerous other small things (the groomsmen not getting their boutineers and the music completely stopping during the dinner and I had to search, again, for Katelyn to help, bartender disappearing numerous times so my guests had to serve themselves, the gift basket where money was also located being placed outside of the tent where we couldn't see it, I could go on) As to the implied threat of libel, please Rob, nothing I am saying is not verifiable.

You asked me to pull down reviews until the insurance investigation was over, which I did. But now the truth will be told because other potential clients have the right to know how your company and you conduct yourselves. They will say whatever you want to hear to get you to book and then once they have your money your concerns do not matter. (Look at other reviews on this point if you don't believe me) Don't make the mistake I did and trust this company with over $10,000 of your money when there are so many other venues, Ceresville Mansion and Antrim 1844 to name a few, that are just as lovely as Waverly and ARE NOT run by this company. Please save your money (and don't get it stolen) and choose another company for your big event.

The food is half the battle and Catering by Uptown won! Everyone raved about the food from cocktail hour to the cake. The presentation was perfect. The turn around of the room was the allotted time they said it would take so the whole day ran smoothly and on time. Everyone spoke very highly of the promptness of the day thanks to our coordinator Karen.

Even the pastor said it was the first wedding hes been to in a long time that started on time. The day was perfect thanks to all the staff. Our day was amazing couldnt of picked a better caterer or venue.

I found Catering by Uptown as one of the best caterers voted on The Knot. To our surprise, The Villa is conveniently located 2mins from our house. We weren't blown away by the location (wasn't our style), and The Flag House was recommended. We fell in love immediately, our salesman (Ray) helped us to envision the ceremony outside, and the reception inside.

We booked it more than 1 year in advance. As time drew near, we were able to have all of our questions answered (even though some were listed on our personalized website), and things went smoothly. Simply put, our wedding was magical. The weather and atmosphere blew everyone away! The only complaint (if you even want to complain), was there was too much food.not that it wasn't good.our guests wished they had enough room in their stomachs for more!

Our day of coordinator, Jeff was very professional, and seemed to enjoy himself as well. I would highly recommend to any couple that would like to take the stress out of wedding planning, and would like to get the exact bang for their bucks ($$$). Thank you Catering by Uptown, you exceeded my expectations of a wedding!

The Waverly Mansion venue is perfect, Catering by Uptown was a disaster. I am absolutely astonished Catering by Uptown has so many positive reviews throughout the internet. I signed a contract with them in June 2014 for my wedding in May 2015. The planning team has been unhelpful, disorganized and frustrating since the first time I contacted them after signing the contract all the way through the wedding day.

I was married at Waverly Mansion on Friday July 3rd and wanted to share my experience with people who are interested in using Catering by Uptown. Positive - 1. My wedding coordinator Takasha was amazing! I may have given this review 3 stars if it was not for her. You are put in touch with your coordinator 10 days before your wedding, and she made sure to take care of everything from that point on.

The wedding venue looked amazing the day of the wedding, the wedding went smoothly, and she made sure that she and the entire staff at Waverly Mansion (who were all so attentive and very friendly) got myself, my family, and all of my guests anything they needed. If you can request a coordinator, request her! 2. Food - The food was delicious. I usually do not like wedding food, but the appetizers were tasty and the dinner did not disappoint. 3. Venue- Waverly Mansion is beautiful, clean, and well kept.

Make sure you have air conditioning if you sweat easily, have a big party, and/or are having an event during the warm months. Negatives - I must say that overall I was disappointed with the staff that I needed to speak to prior to being able to talk with Takasha my coordinator. When you call the office you are placed on the phone with a different person each time who helps you as much as they can depending on the mood they are in for the day.

I often felt that they became easily frustrated with me including a manager I even spoke to. I was hoping that I could be treated fairly since I was a paying customer and an eager bride, but I guess it doesn't always happen. Please make sure you get everything in writing here. They might say that they are writing something on your online profile, but request it in an email instead. Things that were promised to me were not upheld even after they were discussed three times, until I was able to discuss them with my wedding coordinator.

Possibly the worst experience I've ever had. I wish I could jump back in time and save all the time, energy, and money I wasted on this place. They are the worst type of people. They were so unbelievably rude and condescending. When they were trying to sell me the package they were super attentive and told me not to worry about a thing. Skip forward to my wedding day after the mind numbing frustration of the planning phase.

They had no idea what I wanted even though I went through everything with the planner the previous day. I took multiple days off to address issues only to be turned away multiple times. Tried to call several times as well but ended up repeating myself over and over again after being put on hold for long periods of time without any resolution to any of the issues that they were causing.

I thought after all the hassle they put us through they would finally come through on the day of the wedding but they let us down over and over again. Besides throwing a tantrum with the wait staff in front of our guests at the very beginning of the reception, the planner I had the day of the wedding was not around to help at all. Our family and friends stepped in and helped get people food when they denied our guests food early on, and get the food that was supposed to be out but was not, and direct our guests when they needed something.

It was so frustrating to go through this whole experience. On top of everything else, a few weeks later I got an e-mail from them that ended up being a virus. So much for privacy, I saw multiple e-mail addresses from people I knew as I'm sure they saw mine. I would never recommend this place or anyone working here to anyone. Bunch of slacking scammers. Save your time and money go somewhere else.

(I'm very surprised to see such BAD reviews, but.) Catering by Uptown catered the last two 'I DO' Brunch events that I attended. I can't think of anything that they served -- from breads to entree -- that I didn't inhale on site. If you're planning a special event (i.e., wedding reception), they should be in your Top 5 list of places to call.
