Backwoods BBQ

I just hired Backwoods BBQ to cater my wedding of 140 guests. I was so excited to have them cater our wedding for many reasons! They came highly recommended by so many people. And when I first spoke to Steve on the phone I really thought, Man! This guy knows his stuff! I was stoked! I ranted and raved to all my guests about the amazing food we were going to have! 3 meats, spicy tri tip chili and 7 cheese killer macaroni and cheese!

I changed from the basic option because beans are not my fav. Especially when you have those other great options! When I called to confirm the date, guest count and menu i was so excited! As soon as Steve received his deposit I felt ghosted! I called, left voicemail, sent multiple text messages regarding the menu and appetizers we'd like to add!

He never responded until I had my mom call from a different number. Whatever. we kept the reservation. Steve told me on the Thursday before my Saturday wedding that he'd be here at 4:30pm for set up. The day finally comes and 5:30 rolls around. Wedding is about to start. And he's still not here! No call, no heads up he's running behind.

He gets here, and yea food is ready on time. No problem there. But I cannot believe how unprofessional and downright RUDE he was to my mother in law. (The one who paid for the catering) once he arrived. Who shows up late and then has the audacity to be rude?! He followed her around, barking orders, she was so offended and so stressed by him. I had multiple guests tell me of the arguing going on between him and his staff through the serving period.

He was NOT FRIENDLY OR PLEASANT. So the grand entrance finally takes place and my groom and I sit down to eat the meal I had been so excited about for months. What do I find? A plate half full of beans. Two kinds of beans. No mac n cheese. No spicy tri tip chili. Look. I'm not a picky person. this was just my only real big request. NO BEANS! I also don't believe we should be paying for food that was not delivered.

He clearly did not write anything down when we booked him. I reached out afterwards expressing my frustrations and once again his arrogance was astounding! Zero accountability. Zero attempt at making anything right or apologizing. So now I am here writing the review I hoped I would not have to leave. Food was good. but the service was TERRIBLE! If you use them make damn sure and well you get everything in writing.

Also be sure customer service is not important to you. I would never consider using them again or referring them to anyone I know. You can find the same quality food at MUCH MUCH CHEAPER PRICES.

Absolutely Outstanding Service and Value! Let me tell you that Steve and his team deliver an amazing BBQ from beginning to end! They show up right on time, provide the best tasting BBQ you have ever had and serve it in a 5 star presentation! I have hired catering for our events before but I have never heard so many positive comments as I do when I hire Steve and his Backwoods BBQ team!

This is our second time using them and will be our go to each time. If you are looking for a great partner to cater your next event look no further! You cannot beat his quality and prices. By the way, he's a heck of a nice guy. Backwoods BBQ is a home run for your next event!

Absolutely great food. Quick and polite service. Wherever I go across the country I review two things fried pickles and coleslaw. The fried pickles at backwoods barbecue are nothing less than spectacular! Give them a try. I've use them to cater a few events in my home and everyone left with a full tummy and a smile on their face.

Steve and his team were amazing! We had a small wedding and we had the pleasure of having backwoods cater it and it was so delicious. Tri tip and chicken were bomb! The Mac and cheese and potato salad were a hit and the beans everyone couldn't stop talking about his homemade beans. Thank you again Steve for your patience and working with us during covid. You all are very professional and We would totally use you again for future events.

We had Backwoods BBQ cater my daughter's baby shower this past Saturday and the food was the hit of the party! We had pulled pork, mesquite chicken, tri-tip chili, macaroni salad, baked beans, dinner salad, mac n cheese and cheesy corn. I was worried I would run out of food for my 60 guests, but Steve showed up on time and with enough food to feed 100 people!

Everyone was able to take to go plates home. Honestly, the food was the topic of the party even 2 days later people were calling us and texting us asking who prepared the delicious food! Steve is very professional and communicates well. I highly recommend Backwoods BBQ for your catering needs!

Backwoods has catered several events for me and my company over the past few years. Quality of meat is fantastic! The sides have everyone asking for extra. Not sure I could show up to work if I didn't have them back each year. Steve is responsive and prices are in line with the quality and service. Can we do 6 stars?

VERY UNRELIABLE. We hired them for a company event and They were a NO SHOW. And that was after confirming the week before. Try explaining that to 100 hungry employees

At a recent event I was able to enjoy some of their amazing BBQ. I got a taste of the Tri Tip Chili & got hooked. It's not just chili it's CHILI.a world of flavor.very meaty. great rich taste and just the perfect amount of heat. (I'm not into spicy spicy, but this hit the spot.) The problem was I couldn't stop eating it!. also tried the pulled pork, smoky, tasty, tender & top quality. Steve is a true BBQ pitmaster who knows his stuff.

I booked Backwoods for our company being a year safe. I had no problems with communication with Steve. His staff were very friendly and great to have at our place of business! I enjoyed doing business with Steve and his group at backwoods and would highly recommend them! All i have heard from out group of close to 120 employees was nothing but great things!

Even my 9 year old came back for the evening shift and loved the pulled pork! He worked well with us and accommodating our needs that we will deff be booking with them again!

These guys are a must have! Super professional, great on communication and the food is out of this world! Steve is the man he catered our wedding and it was the best! We have been referring him ever since! If you want barbecue and you don't have him do your catering you truly lost out and settled for 2nd place. We blasted him on Facebook but I didn't even think about Yelp! Thank You!

Our first choice for catering our party wasn't available on our chosen date so we took a chance. Found Backwoods BBQ Catering and had Steve come out to look at our site following a detailed email quote. We liked him and made a 50% deposit for our estimate of 80 to 120 folks. We confirmed for 90 the week before. The event was Sunday. Food was to die for.

Chicken lovers thought unanimously that it was THE BEST chicken BBQ they had ever eaten. Pulled pork was the very best and didn't require sauce to make it good. But the sauce was great. Tri-tip was excellent and I personally liked the spicy tri-tip chili the best. Salad was fresh and rolls were great. There was other stuff too. No one had a complaint. They kept the line open for seconds as long as folks kept coming. The stopped when everyone was too full to go back for more. Suffice to say I liked it all.

We used Backwoods BBQ Catering for a big party at the house. Steve brought out the van and barbecue/smoker trailer for on-site cooking. It impressed a group of friends from Texas as authentic Texas barbecue. Everyone raved about the meal - tri tip, chicken breast, hot links AND the pulled pork. They made a lot more food than we needed even though many went back for third helpings.

He gave us all the leftovers packed up. I dealt with Steve by email and phone over the last month to plan the party directly with him and the communication was clear and responses were quick. I would highly recommend Backwoods to anyone.

Backwoods BBQ is the best barbecue in SoCal. Hands down. Great, Quality food for a price that no competitors can touch. On site catering comes with a huge BBQ and smoker and they carve the tritip and chicken on site on the buffet line! Bad ass! Not to mention the smell that that bad boy produces is insane! Your whole neighborhood will smell like mesquite barbecue. Drool.

If you haven't tried the tritip chili, you are truly missing out on a party for your tastebuds. It's loaded with meat and flavor. Steve is awesome to work with and will make sure all of your requests are addressed. If you're looking for some great food, awesome service and to wow your guests, I highly recommend Backwoods BBQ.

We had Backwoods Bbq cater out company picnic this past Sunday at eldorado park in long beach. 200 employees ate the best tri tip' pulled pork and chicken they have ever had. Backwoods was on time and had plenty of food for people to come back a second or third time of they wanted. The cost was really fair and way below another company who wanted to charge us more for less food and wanted to put wrist bands on our employees to cut off once they came through the line. This was by far the best food and best decision we could have made for our picnic.

Outstanding! Their pulled-pork sandwiches were amazing, people kept saying they were the best they had ever had. Kevin was absolutely EXCELLENT to work with. It was for a memorial for my dad that passed away, and he was professional and sensitive every step of the way. I can't recommend them enough.

My company hired them to cater for our holiday party yesterday. The ribs were undercooked. I had a few bites and the meat would just not come off the bone unless I forcefully yanked it away from my mouth. So that was it. I stopped eating the ribs and just ate the chicken. Later on in the day I wasn't feeling too good. Started with a stomach ache.

Then I was vomiting. Food poisoning! Probably from the undercooked meat or that nasty watery macaroni they had as a side. Decided to reach out to a few Co workers and most of them were also telling me they were sick from the food. Now it's the morning after and I'm super dehydrated from the vomiting. If I could I wouldn't even give them 1 star. Never again.

I agree with most of the posts about this spot.the food is good, the service is just not great. The girls behind the counter don't care if you go there to eat or not. The atmosphere is not bad for a strip mall. They could use some live music though.they could use music at all (the TVs and sound system was on the fritz during our visit), it was too quiet. Weird they close at 8pm, even on the weekends.

I like this type of casual restaurant. Picnic table seating, concrete floors and free peanuts, throw the shells on the floor. They have an arcade completely separate from the dining area for the kids and pool tables in the back of the dining area for the big kids. Definitely a locals place. You walk in and order at the counter then take a seat and they bring all the food to your table.

I think the BBQ here is really good. It's real BBQ that's for sure. They give plenty of it too. I'm not one to share a meal or usually have a doggie bag but I've done both here. I've had, BBQ chicken, ribs, tacos, sandwich, etc. ALL good.
